Dragon age inquisition frost basin levers. Cool Welcome - Jaws of Hakkon DLC review. Where we once went

We pass the first addition to dragon age: Inquisition and try to answer the question: “Why pay 800 rubles here?”

The time for full-fledged additions to games is actually gone. Of the latest announcements, it is possible to find in memory, perhaps, only an addon to Wolfenstein: The new order- The Old Blood. They were supplanted by small DLCs, which often come in batches to big games in order to keep the interest of the public in the project as long as possible. Electronic Arts in his own projects quite often produces a whole series of DLC, and Dragon Age, "Probably" will not be an exception.

But it is not yet clear whether these additions will be necessary.

On high graphics settings, the game produces good frames. But get ready for high system requirements

I remember that an excellent addon was released for Dragon Age: Origins The Awakening that was almost better unique game. It was possible to expect the same scope in Jaws of Hakkon, given the high cost of DLC, but it was not there. We are offered to get acquainted with the history of the last Inquisitor, who, long before current events, eight hundred years ago, hunted a huge dragon. The developers have placed the plot of the add-on in a new location. Going in that direction for the first time, you will be pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the scenery and the elaboration of the area. The fact is that Dragon locations Age: Inquisition were huge, but, in most cases, the same type: sometimes only forests, sometimes mountains, sometimes desert under the scorching sun.

Right now various options landscapes are combined in one region, which adds diversity. The area is the largest compared to Inquisition, and also the most exciting to explore. Perhaps without doing quests, and explore the surroundings, enjoying the most beautiful scenery.

In terms of gameplay there are no transformations: we go where our eyes look, we collect tasks, we look for rare items, which have become more here, and we plunge into the mysterious stories of the Avvars - the mysterious inhabitants of the local lands. Apart from the central storyline found a place and side quests, but do not report that there were quite a lot of them. There are both exciting tasks and formulaic ones like "collect five roots and bring it to me."

Wandering around the territory at night is much scarier than during the day.

The “Jaws of Hakkon” can be overcome in about five to six hours, and if you want to completely trample the area and complete each task, then about seven hours will come in handy. The add-on was definitely created for players who made a lot of time for Dragon Age: Inquisition. The opponents here are strong, they kill not strong inquisitors instantly, based on this, it is better to start DLC somewhere with a brave man level of 15-20.

Supplement released for Xbox One and PC, Jaws of Hakkon will hit other platforms in May. The main complaint of the players now is the price of the DLC. For one location and a couple of hours of gameplay, paying eight hundred rubles at the cost of Dragon Age: Inquisition itself at 1800 rubles will be a little expensive.

But, a real fan of Dragon Age will not stop the price for a new location, and a really good story will not stop, and the unique Inquisition will be more than enough for the rest of the players.

7.3 A high-quality add-on that would like either more content or a more modest price tag

Apparently the time has passed when there were full-fledged additions. From the latest sensational announcements, one can only remember probably. In general, such large DLCs have supplanted small additions that should keep the public interested in the project for as long as possible. Let's remember a company that likes to release a whole range of add-ons, and Dragon Age: Inquisition is apparently no exception. But only one thing is not clear: does this game need an addition yet?

Story

Returning to the past and remembering the beginning of the series, the game, we also remember a great addition to the original game called The Awakening, which almost outgrew the original game in terms of interest. The same scope could be expected in the addition, because the money for the DLC is not bad.

The plot of the add-on invites the current Inquisitor to get acquainted with the history of the previous one, who hunted one dragon as much as 800 years ago. A new storyline, as expected, takes place in a new location. Once in this new place, you will be pleasantly surprised by the incredible beauty of this territory and its uniqueness, because if you remember the locations of the original part, you could notice that the locations are of the same type: forests, mountains, deserts, and others. Now you have to get acquainted with the region in which everything is succinctly combined together.

Inspection from the inside

The location is not small compared to the locations in the original part, besides, in terms of exploration, it is just as interesting. You can just travel around this area and carefully consider some flowers or something else. In general, the landscapes of the first addition are simply beautiful.

As for the changes in the gameplay, they are not here: as usual, you move where your eyes look, take a bunch of tasks, find some beautiful rare items (which, by the way, have become much more) and completely immerse yourself in the secret stories of some Avvars (mysterious inhabitants of these lands). In addition to the main storyline, as usual, there are secondary ones, but they are not so interesting and exciting, as they relate to the "bring, collect" principle.

The add-on is completed in a total of seven hours, and this is if you fully explore the area and trample down every path in the location. It is worth noting that the add-on was made exclusively for those players who have fully explored the world of Dragon Age: Inquisition (fans). Enemies are very strong and weak Inquisitors have no place here, but in general it is best to start the passage of the "Jaws of Hakkon" somewhere from the twentieth level.

So far, the add-on has been released only on and, but in May the add-on will become available for other platforms. The only thing that discourages players from going through this add-on is the price. For one location and plot, which is not very addictive, you need to pay 800 rubles, and if you remember, it costs 1800 rubles. However, any fan of the series will definitely like it. new location with beautiful scenery.

Outcome

What can I say, the addition is of course high-quality and "from the inside" it is just fine, but still, for the money I would like to get much more, or the price is lower. But if you look at the "Jaws of Hakkon" in general, then the first DLC is excellent, but again, it cannot be compared with the success of the once-released The Awakening add-on.

They were supplanted by small DLCs, which often come in batches to major games to keep the public interested in the project for as long as possible. Electronic Arts often releases a whole series of DLC in his projects, and, apparently, will not be an exception. But it is not yet clear whether these additions will be necessary.

I remember that an excellent addon came out, which turned out to be almost better original game. One could expect the same scope in, given the rather high cost of the DLC, but it was not there. We are offered to get acquainted with the history of the last Inquisitor, who, long before current events, eight hundred years ago, hunted a giant dragon. The developers have placed the plot of the add-on in a new location. Going there for the first time, you will be pleasantly surprised by the elaboration of the area and the beauty of the landscapes. The fact is that the locations were large, but, as a rule, of the same type: either exclusively forests, or mountains, or desert under the scorching sun. Now different variants landscapes are combined in one region, which adds variety. The territory is the largest in comparison with, moreover, the most interesting to explore. You can just wander around without completing quests and explore the surroundings, admiring the most beautiful landscapes.

There are no changes in terms of the gameplay: we go wherever our eyes look, we collect tasks, we look for rare items, which have become more here, and we plunge into the mysterious stories of the Avvars - the mysterious inhabitants of these lands. However, the price for a new location and a really great story will not stop a real fan, and the original Inquisition will be more than enough for the rest of the players.

It is known that Dragon Age: Inquisition is not so similar to Origins, and generally followed in the footsteps of the second part. In a good sense of the word: smoothly and quite logically, the Inquisition moved to new history leaving room for your favorite characters. The narrative has outgrown the dusty streets of Kirkwole, unfolded throughout Thedas, blooming with tropical jungles, desert sunsets and dank swamps. The developers had the strength, time and desire to recreate a huge beautiful world. To let the player into the mountains and underground, to show the majestic monuments of Tevinter and the worn out elven writings - to give something that Origins did not have resources for. Yes, yes, it is not for nothing that the Inquisitor roams Ferelden and even descends into the deep paths. We can finally look at the world not from the height of a tactical camera, but through the eyes of a local resident. And he's pretty good from that angle.

However, somewhere along the way, Origins disappeared. Dusted with dust, a cozy gloomy tale was replaced by an epic saga full of hope and adventure. The strangest thing is that formally everything remained the same. The world is doomed and only you can save it. You have to step by step gain a reputation, gather people around you and give a decisive rebuff to absolute evil. But at the same time, everything is different.

Someone will say that the soul disappeared - perhaps, but then a new one came to replace it. Instead of the desperate hero Ferelden with a handful of companions, the Inquisitor, full of graceful confidence, has come to us at the head of the church order. He leads people to the light and is not at all going to die in the final battle. Oh, this mockery of a broken enemy: you wanted to go to the Shadow, didn't you?

Through his eyes, Thedas is seen differently. This new world it is difficult to correlate with those legends that we collected bit by bit before. Echoes of Andraste's life, stories about Gray Wardens, vague rumors about Tevinter... but we're talking about something completely different now! The known history of the world is not reflected in current events, much has to be told anew. And there is a feeling of understatement, the action hangs in the air, having no roots.

We learn a lot during the game, but obviously not enough. questions after last fight more remains than before. And the Jaws of Hakkon DLC is designed to fix this situation. No, it will not tell what happened after. The word "story" only says that this is a complete standalone story, and not an armor set or a new co-op mode. But it illuminates the turning points of the past unknown to us before.

After activating and installing a good two gigabytes of the add-on, a new location is available on the table of the war council. Opening it will cost you eight points of influence. Be careful! Only the strong will be able to conquer the Frost Basin. The usual set of aggressive fauna is designed for a high-level character. The inhabitants of the gap three or four levels above, without embarrassment, trampled my presumptuous team into the mud, and I completely left the four demons of despair of the thirtieth level to wither over their damned gold. I will be more whole.

The territory of the add-on is comparable to the Storm Coast, but much more diverse. Firstly, the rapid high-mountain climate change - in the lowlands there is a real jungle with tropical birds, and above there is already one moss. Ominous swamps and vigorous waterfalls are also included. Secondly, during the execution of the main storyline, we will be able to visit the Hollow both day and night. And, most importantly, no rain.

If you lack research in the main campaign, then everything is here for your enjoyment. Three astrariums (one of which did not work for me), three oculariums with twelve fragments, non-obvious landmarks, powerful gaps and Tevinter ruins. The reward for conquering the basin is very generous - I updated my wardrobe with purple weapons, but I came after winning the main part. However, there was no staff of dreams for Lady Inquisitor, so the Avarrian merchants pleased me much more. Tempting sketches of the fourth level and the third merchant in the game with an endless supply of unpretentious medicinal herbs, very convenient. Delicious materials for runes can be plucked from demonic remains, and cloth can be removed from the bodies of local residents to protect from the cold. In general, after the complete conquest of the Basin, the frost will no longer bother you - the collected fragments can be immediately spent on opening a magical ice room similar to the temple in the Oasis, and seriously increase your resistance to the elements.

The main line of tasks consists of two parts - archaeological and ethnographic. The Inquisitor sets off in search of information about a colleague, the legendary Ameridan, who perished in these parts eight hundred years ago. You have to fight off the expedition from aggressive reptiles, communicate with local spirits, unravel ancient riddle and trace the path of the last (to you, of course) Inquisitor. Get ready for unexpected historical discoveries and the personal drama of long-dead heroes.

The ethnographic part begins when you realize that without the help of local residents you will not be able to complete your mission. You will have to get used to the Avvar traditions, protect the interests of the tribe and, finally, earn the status of an honorary kinsman. And the Avvars will stand behind their kinsman with fire and sword.

And both quest lines will unite in a beautiful final task with a small labyrinth, bloody battles and an ancient ice dragon.

"Jaws of Hakkon" - addition as it is. In fact, this is just another gaming location, high-quality and colorful, but nothing fundamentally different from the old ones. No new characters, no romance, and no blow-offs. New items and even a new spell for the Inquisitor are unlikely to be needed if you have already completed the game. But from the point of view of the history of the world, the DLC is very curious: after getting acquainted with the details of the life of the last Inquisitor, you look at the past of Thedas from a different angle.

It’s worth taking it solely for the sake of pleasure for another 5-10 hours to plunge into Inquisition, defeat demons, take away a new dragon and uncover the secrets of the past. For those who simply follow the series or dislike the last part, there is little interesting here, it is easier to read the retelling later.
