« Imajinarium” is quite simple, but despite this it is very exciting game, in which it is necessary to come up with associations to images from the box, rather unusually drawn. All images were drawn by inveterate artists, perhaps even with some deviations, because of this association - from the easiest, for example, "friendship", "summer", "impregnability", to the most unpredictable and crazy, in the style of "That's how it should have been done ”, “Where to laugh?”, “Chuck-chak! Run faster! ”, There may be just a bunch of them.

Description of the game Imaginarium

I took the picture out of the box, came up with an association: what's next?

Now take this card and place it face down on the table. The task of other players is to find among their cards the one that will be more like this association than others, and put it next to it. Then all these cards on the table are shuffled.

I guessed! The meaning of the game is for each player to guess what I put?

Didn't guess! If that were the case, then you would only need to come up with a simple association to win the game. In order to win here, it is necessary that at least one of the players can guess your hidden card, but the best option would be if everyone except one guesses what kind of card it is.

How should associations be made?

If you have the opportunity, then it is desirable to complicate and not give out the meaning, that is, try to somehow veil your thought. But this must be done carefully and clearly in order to confuse some and divide opinions. over time will teach you to guess correctly in order to win! Once you're at ease, you'll immediately feel the rush creativity and gradually learn to understand the thoughts and even emotions of other players.

Like this??

is one of the most "communicative" games that really helps people to remove the borders and communicate with interest. Through associations, you will try to find out the most personal thoughts of the opponent, try to understand him better and better determine the chain of thought of other players. I must say, this thing is not just sincere, but also a definite favorite among games in terms of developing relationships.

Who can give a "game"?

  • You can just take it home, you definitely won't go wrong with the choice.
  • Perfect for an evening game with friends.
  • Any person who is somehow connected with creativity will appreciate it with dignity.
  • Are you having a party? Take you know what with you 🙂

What's in the game box?

A field to count points (for convenience, it is printed directly on the box).
98 large cards with images.
49 cards with which players will vote, 7 pieces.
7 flying elephants in the form of chips, for moves around the field (there are two types, depending on the edition, plastic and wooden).
Competently translated into Russian rules.

Should I buy the Imaginarium?

Undoubtedly, because this board game will adequately complement your shelves with games. There are quite a few such association games like this one, especially since the game is designed in a very high quality and unique style. The box with the game will help you brighten up more than one day in the company of friends and, most importantly, it will help you better understand your friends and establish proper communication.

Imaginarium cards

The cards are worth mentioning separately. Further in the text there will be a story about cards, but I would like to say a few words now. Each card in is an individually drawn picture. Over a hundred different artists and illustrators worked on each illustration in the set. The images on the cards sometimes make you think and plunge into the world of fantasies and dreams. Beautifully crafted features of each picture speak of the quality of the game itself. After they fall into your hands, you want to admire and admire them!

Imaginarium game rules

At the beginning of the game, each player is given the choice of an elephant and some cards, which must be the same color as the elephant. According to the rules of the game, there are seven voting cards. Usually for the game you need as many cards as the person takes part in the game. For example, if you play with seven players, then card number 6 will not be useful to you.

Determining the first move in a game

First you need to decide who will start the game first. This is where voting cards come in handy. All participants take their voting cards, mix them carefully and draw one randomly. The largest number on the card will determine the right of the first move. In practice, nothing limits you in choosing another real way to determine the starter. Stone, scissors, paper are also suitable :). The game then proceeds clockwise from the starting player.

Game progress

  • Each player takes his bishop and places it on area 1 of the playing field.
  • The deck with illustrations is carefully shuffled and from there 6 cards are assigned to each player.
  • The player who walks first comes up with an association and voices it.
  • According to the rules of the game, each turn is led by another participant. The host makes an association based on any picture of his cards, pronounces this association aloud to other participants and puts the card that he made up on the table face down.

Guessing the leader's card

The main goal of the participants is to guess which one of all the cards put on the table was guessed by the presenter, and to vote for it. All participants choose one voting card with the required number and put it face down (the number must match the card they thought of). The presenter does not take part in the voting and does not have the right to comment on the pictures laid out on the table. It is forbidden to vote for the picture that you posted yourself. When the final decision has been made by all players, the voting cards are turned over and the scores are counted.

Scoring

  • According to the rules, if all the players guessed the leader’s card, then he moves his bishop 3 moves back (or to the beginning, to field 1, if he has not yet run further than field 3), while the other participants remain in place.
  • In the event that no one was able to guess the leader's card, then the leader moves back 2 moves. Plus, points are barked to players whose cards are guessed.
  • In any other situation, 3 points are added to all players who correctly guessed the card. 3 points are added to the leader's account and a point for each participant who guessed it.
  • Each player receives one point for the other player who chose his picture.

Players move their elephants on the playing field by a number of points, which depend on the points received in the last round.

What inspired you to create?

This is long and interesting story- it all started about a couple of years ago, once I came across the Dixit game. I just fell in love with him and printed out about 9 thousand cards for him. I played it a lot, one might say until I lost my pulse.

Where did you manage to dig up so many pictures?

There are a lot of them on the Internet and most importantly they are all selected and selected. Basically, these cards were from the Russian-speaking population, they probably did not like the quality of the original ones and they decided to make their own.

And you realized that you want to create them?

After a while, I thought about it and realized that if I like these cards, then someone else must like them. A couple of years ago we started releasing our own extra packs through Triominos and then other chains. But as soon as things got a little better, we realized that it was somehow wrong to release an add-on to a game that was completely not yours, and in order to save the remnants of our karma, we decided to create our own. Anyway, we had a slightly different game mechanics, and we had a different scoring field. And the rules of the game were different. After checking the mechanism for releasing games in Russia, we realized that this is more than possible here. The main requirement was the uniqueness of the game, if the game is unique, then we are within the boundaries of the legal zone. That's how the story began.

How did you choose the artists?

Social networks and the basics of crowdfunding came to my aid. The first set fell on the guys from Leprozorium.ru. There are quite a large number of Russian illustrators. We tried our best to choose the best. Further, for subsequent sets, it became clear that you would not limit yourself to one social network and we began to look for new artists in different parts of the world. The scheme was like this, we are looking for and redeeming images.

Were there any card requirements for the game?

No, it's pretty hard to get an illustrator to draw 98 cards and have us all like them when it's done. The situation was like this, the illustrator showed us his database of images, which he naturally was ready to sell, and we were already gaining the right amount for ourselves. For example, we were provided with a database of 600 images, so we chose 98 of them.

That is, some of the artists were already a little crazy from birth and all this was not drawn by your order?

You are absolutely right, we almost always just chose, there were very rare cases when we asked for something to be added or removed from the illustrator, but it was very infrequent.

Many of the players, or rather, his cards seem a little gloomy. Why so?

Initially, the game was conceived for an adult audience, so we added expression and gloom, as it seems to me, this added some kind of charm to it.

Are you afraid that it will be copied?

Absolutely not, you can even say the opposite. If this segment of games is copied, and copied qualitatively, then this will only add the spirit of competition. Healthy competition generates industry development. And if the cards are of poor quality, then there will be no chance to sell the game.

The player comes up with associations to the images on the cards and tries to unravel the associations of other players.

Authors about the board game "Imaginarium"

Imaginarium is one of the most popular games in Russia. Every year we sell about 200,000 copies of the games in this series. The players' task is to come up with and guess associations to strange, psychedelic and simply crazy illustrations created by famous Russian artists and designers.

Rules of the game "Imaginarium"

There are few rules in the Imaginarium board game, and they are all easy to remember.

Beginning of the game

At the beginning of the game, you need to decide on the number of players. The minimum number of players in the game "Imaginarium" is 4, the maximum is 7.

Each player takes a chip (elephant) of the color they like.
The game offers a choice of 7 colors:

  • red
  • white
  • yellow
  • green
  • the black
  • blue
  • and pink

Example

If there are four players, then each receives four tokens with numbers from 1 to 4.

After you figured out the number of players, you need to decide on the number of cards involved in the game.

Example

We play four of us, which means that we should have 96 association cards in our hands (that is, 2 cards from the common deck do not participate in the game).

You can play with the whole deck (98 pcs.), But then at the end of the game, the players will have a different number of cards in their hands.

Game start

All players put their chips (elephants) on the starting position of the playing field - the largest cloud with the number 1.

A feature of the game "Imaginarium" is that on each move one of the players plays the role of a leader.
It is not difficult to determine the first leader - you can simply appoint him or become one by winning the Rock-Paper-Scissors mini-tournament.

Subsequent leaders are assigned automatically: leader #2 will be the player sitting to the left of leader #1.

The host carefully mixes the deck with association cards and distributes 6 cards to each of the players. Cards are dealt face down (players cannot see what is shown on them). The host does not forget to hand over 6 cards to himself.

The rest of the deck is placed on the center of the game table (also face down).

First move

Presenter No. 1 chooses one of his cards and comes up with an association for it, after which he announces it aloud.

Example

"Our Soviet Childhood".

After that, he puts his card on the table (still face down), and the other players try to find a card in their deck that matches the leader's association.
After a sometimes rather difficult choice, each of the players puts his card on the leader's card.

The host again shuffles the cards (it is possible behind his back), after which he lays out all the cards face down from right to left.

Guessing the leader's card

After the players have carefully examined the images on the cards, they try to guess the leader's card among them.

Important

Each player gives the leader one of his tokens with the number of the proposed card.
The game does not continue until the leader has received tokens from all players.

Then the host lays out the players' tokens under the cards - each under its own number.

Scoring

  • Players who guessed the leader's card move 3 steps forward along playing field.
    In addition, players receive one extra step for each token that voted for their card.
    The leader’s chip in this case also moves 3 steps forward + 1 step for each player who guessed his card.

  • If no one voted for the leader's card, then his chip retreats 2 steps back, and the players' chips move forward according to the number of people who voted for their cards.

  • If all the players voted for the leader's card (too obvious association), then the players' chips remain in their place, and the leader's chip retreats already 3 steps back.

  • All players except one guessed his card.
    Result: the leader's chip moves forward 3 steps + 1 step for each player who guessed his card.
  • All players guessed his card.
    Result: all players' pieces remain in place, the leader's piece moves 3 steps back.
  • The player guessed the leader's card, the other players voted for his card.
    Result: The player's pawn moves forward 3 steps + 1 step for each player who voted for his card.
    The leader chip in this case moves 4 steps forward (3 + 1).
  • The player did not guess the leader's card, no one voted for his card.
    Result: The player's pawn remains in place.

Example of scoring

Example

Guessing association: "Our Soviet childhood."

In our case, the leader's card is the last one on the right (with Crocodile Gena and Cheburashka).

One of the players (white) guessed it, so the leader's piece moves forward 4 steps (3 basic steps + 1 step for the only one who guessed).

Chip white player it would be worth moving also 3 steps forward, but his card (with a pioneer and a cake) was successfully voted by two other players, which means that White elephant moves across the playing field 5 steps forward (3+2=5).

The blue and green players did not guess the leader's card, in addition, no one voted for their cards, so their chips do not move anywhere and remain in their places.

Next move in the game

The played cards are sent to the "dump" (bat), players receive one new map from the deck.

The role of leader passes to the next player (clockwise).

Special clouds on the playing field

Some clouds on the playing field are marked with special markers.
The leader, whose chip will be on such a field, must come up with a special association.

The facilitator must come up with an association in the form of a question.

Example

“But isn’t the MiMiMeter measured in cats?”

The host association must be exactly four words long.

Example

"Pioneer - an example for all children!"

brand association

Once on such a cloud, the leader's association should be associated with a well-known brand, slogan or commercial.

Example

"Justduit doesn't like it when the window blows."

Dixit and Imaginarium - two popular games on association with a very similar game mechanics. They used to cost the same. After learning about the existence of both games, most are wondering: “Which game is better: Dixit or Imaginarium?”

We will open the boxes and tell you about the nuances so that you can make a choice.

Appearance

The box with the Dixit game is 2 centimeters smaller than the Imaginarium. Inside each of them is a playing field, which is located in the box itself, a compartment for cards and chips.

The Imaginarium also has room for additional decks. Only the base deck will fit into the Dixit box.

Illustrations

dixit- the game that appeared first and blew up the world of board party games. The illustrator of all the cards in the base game is one - the French artist Marie Cardua. There are 98 cards in Dixit. All illustrations are kind and positive, so you can play not only with friends, but also with the whole family with children 6 years and older.

Imaginarium- a game released after Dixit. The Imaginarium also has 98 cards. 10 illustrators worked on illustrations for the Imaginarium at once, so in the game you will find cards made in 10 different styles. Notfor playing with children under 12 years old.

Number of players

Dixit: 3-6 players. Dixit has a version of Dixit. Odyssey: 3-12 players
Imaginarium: 4-7 players

Rules of the game

Dixit and Imaginarium have the same essence of the game: there are cards with unusual illustrations. Players take turns guessing their associations with the help of cards, and the rest try to successfully place their card. But there is a slight difference in nuances.

Game progress, number of steps

All player figures line up on the field at the number 0. In Dixit, these are rabbits, in the Imaginarium, elephants with wings. The Dixit field contains 30 steps, the Imaginarium field contains 39 steps.

Players receive 6 cards per hand and voting tokens equal to the number of participants at the table.

Leader's move and players' responses

The essence of guessing is the same in both games:
One player becomes the Leader. He chooses one of his cards, places it face down on the table and names his association.

An association in these games is any word, phrase, sentence, quote, poem, and even a fragment of a song. That is, whatever comes to mind.

The main rule for association is not too obvious and not too complicated. When scoring, this becomes clear.

Other players choose among their cards the one that best suits the intended association and also put it face down on the table.

The host shuffles all the cards and lays them out in a row face up. All cards are conventionally numbered the leftmost - 1, the next - 2 and so on.

Guessing the leader's card

Now everyone except the presenter participates in the voting. Goal: Guess the hidden card. Each player chooses a token with a number and hands it face down to the Host. When all players have voted, the Host reveals the tokens and places them on the corresponding cards.

Scoring

The scoring in Dixit and the Imaginarium is slightly different. To make it convenient and understandable, I put it on the plate:

Situation dixit Imaginarium
All players guessed the leader's card Leader 0 points Other players plus 2 points Leader minus 3 points (three steps back) Other players 0 points
No one guessed the leader's card Leader 0 points Other players + 2 points Leader minus 2 points Other players 0 points
The leader's card was guessed, but not all players Leader plus 3 points Players who guessed his card plus 3 points
Cards of other players voted for The player receives as many points as the number of tokens his card has received.

Process and end game

Dixit is played until the rabbit of one of the players jumps to the finish line. He will be considered the winner of the race.

The Imaginarium is played until the last card in the deck. The bishop that breaks the farthest wins. Although the rules of the Imaginarium offer to play according to the rules of Dixit, as an alternative version of the rules.

Special fields

Dixit does not have this, so we will only talk about the Imaginarium. On the field of the Imaginarium there are steps marked with special icons. If the figure of the Leader will stand on such an icon, then special conditions for its association will appear:

  • "4 in a cloud" - the association must contain 4 words;
  • "question mark" - an association in the form of a question;
  • "abibas" - the association is associated with any well-known brand;
  • "TV" - the association is based on a film, cartoon, series, program;
  • "book" is an association in the form of a story.

Additional decks for games

The peculiarity of Dixit and the Imaginarium is that at some point the cards become boring and you want something new. The developers foresaw this and released many additional decks.

For Dixit: 6 additional decks of 84 cards, cost (as of February 2017): 1350 rubles. The style of all decks is very similar to the original game, although the illustrations were drawn by different designers.

For the Imaginarium: 5 additional decks of 98 cards, cost (as of February 2017): 750 rubles. The style of the decks differs from the light version of the cards (Odyssey, Pandora, Ariadne, Persephone) to completely gloomy with the 18+ marking (Chimera). With children under 12, choose Persephone from all decks.

Protection for Dixit and Imaginarium cards

For Dixit and Imaginarium there are protectors - protection for cards from overwriting. I highly recommend using them. Games are so catchy that you want to drag them to different companies and play-play. The cards are overwritten. Protectors will live forever. In addition, it will be easier to interfere with them.

1 set of protectors (100 pieces) just for one deck of cards.

Summarizing

In general, when choosing Dixit or Imaginarium, it all depends on what goal you are pursuing.

  • If you want to save money: choose Imaginarium (it's cheaper than Dixit now) and its additional expansion decks are also cheaper;
  • If you play with children, we recommend Dixit - he is kinder and sunnier in himself and will be easier to expand with additional decks. The Imaginarium for children has two basic games, Imaginarium Childhood and Imaginarium Soyuzmultfilm, and can only be expanded with an additional Persephone deck.
  • If you play with friends, then Imaginarium. More players, diverse illustrations, sometimes with black humor. And four compartments in the base box for additional decks - you will store everything in one place.
  • If you like positive pictures, then Dixit. It turned out kinder, brighter, in the same style. And it is suitable for both adult companies, and for companies where children have mixed in. But there are no compartments for storing additional decks. They will all be in large individual boxes.

In the article, I tried to convey to you the essence and appearance two very similar games. I hope now you can answer your question "What is better Dixit or Imaginarium" and choose the perfect game for yourself.

Imaginarium - this is card game for guessing associations. An essential game for any party.

Easy rules, bright, chaotic, mind-blowing pictures - all this will leave few people indifferent. Suitable for all ages, but if someone suddenly finds the illustrations too "adult", then a children's supplement has been released specifically for children.

What do we see when we first look at the game?

A bright square box with a castle and a wonderful tree painted on it. Inside, a stack of cards - 98 pieces, 7 game figures in the form of flying elephants, a playing field - the sky with clouds, 49 voting cards, rules.

In general, the whole package is only pleasing to the eye. Players take apart the elephants, place them on the first start cloud and start their fun journey.

Rules of the game.

Each of the color of the elephant is given cards for voting and 6 cards in a closed form. The first player - the leader chooses any of his cards and makes an association to it. Associations can be expressed in absolutely any way: a song, a word, a phrase, a gesture. What is enough of your imagination. Having guessed, the host puts this card face down on the table. The rest of the players select a suitable card for this association already from their hand. Also, without showing it to anyone, you need to put it on the table next to the leader's card. All cards are shuffled. Lay out. Here begins the most interesting. Players try to guess the leader's card. Having made a choice, mark the selected card with a voting card. Also face down. Then all the numbers are opened and look at the result of the vote.

What can happen?

There are several options.

1. All players can guess the hidden card.

This is very bad for the leader. If all players voted for the hidden card, then he goes back three points. The rest of the players stand still.

2. No player guesses the hidden card.

This is also not the best option. Because the leader goes back 2 points.

Other options are much more interesting:

3. The leader receives 3 points for each player who guessed his card. Those. the ideal option is to guess the association so that all players guess except one. Then the leader will receive the maximum number of points.

4. Those players who guessed the card also get 3 points. Plus 1 point for each player who guessed their card.

The played cards are thrown into the discard pile and the players take a new card from the deck. The association is made by the next player.

The game ends when all the cards in the players' hands and in the deck run out.

Here are some chaotic rules. At first sight. Sit down to play and already in the first game you will understand everything and remember the scoring system.

A huge plus in the game (deep merci to developers) is an interesting playing field. Clouds can be ordinary, or they can contain tasks.

If there is an image on the cloud:

Question mark- make an association in an interrogative form;

Number 4– the association should consist of four words;

Book- make an association in the form of a story;

Television- the conceived association should be something connected with a cartoon, TV program or film;

ABIBAS logo- the association must be connected in some way with a well-known brand.

Conclusion:

Despite the fact that Imaginarium is considered a Russian plagiarism of the world-famous Dixit / Dixit game, this game has gained even more popularity in our country than the original source. You can argue for a long time which option is better, where deeper and more interesting cards. But is it worth it? Each game is good in its own way and managed to acquire an army of fans.

What is in the box?

Opening the heavy box with the Imaginarium game for the first time, one sees something colorful and imaginary. Inside are the following components:

  1. The playing field required for scoring. It is designed in the form of a starry sky, through which clouds float, and the numbers corresponding to the player's victory points are placed in them.
  2. cards with associations that do not repeat among themselves - 98 pcs.;
  3. tokens for voting in the form of small rectangles with numbers - 49 pieces;
  4. chips - flying elephants - 7 pcs.;
  5. rules brochure.

The playing field is built into the box, and under it there are cells for additional sets.

Imaginarium - a game for the company!

As expected, the exciting game "Imaginarium" received a competitive format, a quick-witted, resourceful and attentive player will win the game. It will come in handy to learn how to fight the imagination of true friends and just acquaintances.

Everything is very simple

In the original "Imaginarium" and in its additions, all manipulations are simple and do not require concentration and concentration when explaining the rules. Party members lay out cards with illustrations, after which the players need to guess which of the laid out cards caused the Leader's association, passing farther and farther across the playing field.

Learn all about your friends!

The same picture causes different associations for each player. So, for example, on a map with Crocodile Gena and Cheburashka“animal”, “childhood”, “friendship” and more are guessed. It is the associations that will show an old friend or acquaintance from a new side, this will help to get closer by looking at what is really going on in the player’s head.

Imaginarium cards

The most interesting thing that awaits the participants in the set with the game "Imaginarium" - cards in the amount 98 pieces custom-sized with original, funny and provocative illustrations. They are required in order to spur the imagination of the players. After a dozen games of exciting entertainment, the basic set of cards will gradually become boring, because all possible associations are visible at a glance. Additional sets with cards will help such players, total published 5 new decks 98 cards.

By the way, about the artists

The game "Imaginarium" is made by Russian illustrators, and it is popular all over the world. And in the additional set “Imaginarium. Odyssey" and in the anniversary set "Imaginarium", the names of the artists are finally revealed, they are written on a card with brief information about illustrators.

A difficult mission is expected from the Leader. While he is looking at the illustration on the card, he should not invent a transparent and detached association. After all, if it is not original and obvious, the players will easily vote for the Leader's card from the laid out pictures. This will cause the Host to lose 3 points, and the rest will remain at the same " little cloud» fields.

A similar situation will occur if the Leader makes an association that is too distant from the objects on the map, which will not be clear to the rest of the participants. Then there is a high probability that his card will remain without votes, and again he will take two steps back.

For those who love complexity

The complexity of the game "Imaginariui" is given by the presence of fields with special signs. The facilitator will come up with associations based on the tasks assigned to each sign: present the association in the form of a question or using strictly four words, etc. In this way, the players will definitely develop their imagination and associative thinking skills.

Board game "Imaginarium" - game rules

In the Imaginarium, the rules of the game are allowed to be adjusted as soon as you want. The creators even prepared variations to diversify the games that end the same way:

  • End the game when one of the player's flying elephants reaches cloud number 39.
  • Do not limit yourself to the game when the deck and cards in hand are completed, but shuffle the discard pile and thereby form new deck with illustrations. So the game goes on forever.
  • Make association restrictions permanent. This implies that each association will be guessed based only on the tasks of special fields.
  • If there is only one set available and there are more than 7 participants, it is a good idea to pair up and play a game with two instead of one.

On the fields of the Imaginarium, in addition to cloud cells, there are special fields marked with special signs.

  • a cell with a question mark requires the Host to make an association, respectively, in a question form;
  • a cell with "4" suggests an association expression in four words;
  • the cell with "abibas" says that the association should be associated with a popular brand. It is not required to mention the brand exactly, it is enough to be based on the slogan, advertising and the like;
  • "TV" requires to connect the association on the basis of a famous film, popular TV show, series;
  • a cell with a book implies not just a word or a combination of several words, but a full-fledged story.

Preparing for the game
