What is the legendary game now?

Gambling https://www.site/ https://www.site/

Friends, it just so happened that our site has a lot of articles and news about League of Legends, but relevant There were no reviews of the game as such. The last time we substantively analyzed the project in a magazine was in 2013, and since then a lot of water has flowed under the bridge. And so I sat down and wrote this article!

In the material, I deliberately avoid any comparisons with Dota 2, Heroes of the Storm and other representatives of the genre, so as not to hurt anyone's feelings.

Alas, whatever I write about League of Legends, it still won't be enough. A lot of time has passed since the release of the game, and it is difficult to evaluate the entire path it has traveled. Therefore, I will simply tell you what League of Legends is and how it now works on the Russian server, in a simplified way and on the fingers - for those who are completely, completely unfamiliar with the game or have not entered it for several years. Well, if you are a seasoned veteran - I don’t know why you are reading this, let’s better roll up a match or two!

League of Legends from L to S

And what about the donation?

As soon as it comes to competition in the game, the question immediately arises: is it possible to donate and become the coolest without too much work? Here the answer is no! But there is a system with an in-game store and currency in League of Legends. All sorts of cosmetic changes are bought, as well as the heroes themselves.

Yes, in League of Legends champions need to be bought. More precisely, like this: the list of fourteen free characters is updated once a week. You can freely play for them for all seven days, but if you like someone, you want to continue to fight on the Fields of Justice, you will have to spend blue essence or Riot Points (in-game currency, bought for real money).

If you don't want to invest, no problem. Essence is not that hard to earn: win, complete tasks like "Get one win in matchmaking mode" and get chests.

By the way, shards of champion skins and orange essence fall out of the same chests, with the help of which you can transform pieces of skins into full-fledged character skins. In general, loot boxes in League of Legends have a special story. The science of chests and crafting - "Hextech Craft" - deserves a separate article.

Let's go back to the RP currency for a moment. You can buy everything for it in the store: profile icons, images of the champions themselves, emotions - emoticons that are used right during the game, and so on and so forth.

Fanservice in the flesh

But for all the refinement of its mechanics, the League would not have so many fans if it were not for events, promotions and special events. They are amazing! Almost every world famous holiday ( New Year, February 14, April 1), characteristic features appear in the game: maps, modes, quest chain, champion skins, and much, much more. For example, one of my favorite time modes is U.R.F. (Ultra Destructive Format), which was sometimes introduced on April Fool's Day.

Same map, same heroes, same 5v5 format, only all players get the Awesome Awesome Buff! And the essence of it is as crazy as the name: everyone gets faster, stronger, skills recharge faster, and chaos is created on the field and unbridled fun reigns.

And this is not the only gaming event! You can immediately remember the winter ARAM-map with King Poro, the sandy map of Shurima, terribly strong Halloween bots and much more.

A little about poro!

Apart from classic card"Summoner's Gorge" with three lines, the game has "Cursed Forest" for 3v3 battles and "Howling Abyss". The last map with a special ARAM mode (All Random All Mid) was introduced later than the others. In fact, it is just a snow-covered bridge with protective towers. The task in the round is still the same: get to the enemy base and destroy the main building. The difficulty is that at the beginning of the match, all players are given random champions.

From the very first day of the existence of the Howling Abyss, in addition to bloodthirsty characters, fluffy white lumps with pink tongues appeared on the bridge - poros. All sorts of animals are often found on the maps in the League of Legends: squirrels, frogs, butterflies. They are neither aggressive nor friendly, they are just part of the environment.

But now it's a completely different story! You can interact with them.

In ARAM, champions will have a Poro Snack in their inventory from the start of a match. This cookie can be activated by approaching any of the furry ones. Then the poro will grow up a little, and you will be shown an animation of an inspired animal, gushing with hearts for a couple of seconds. It would seem that it's just a fun feature of not the most serious mode. But it didn't end there!

The poros were a favorite among players, and it wasn't long before they were included in in-game events, champion skins (Sejuani Riding a Poro), and animation around the game. One of the support champions, the glorious strongman Braum, even became best friend and protector of these bizarre beasts!

Recently, the words “clone” and “DotA” have been side by side in our magazine so often that you can get confused in the endless DotA imitators. But in fact, only a couple of games are worthy of attention.

In 2003, a modification (or rather, even a map) Defense of the Ancients for Warcraft 3 was created by a man hiding under the nickname Eul. The map turned out to be incredibly popular, many tweaked and remade it, until, finally, www.dota-allstars.com, enthusiast Steve Fick created a version of Defense of the Ancients: Allstars, which was eventually recognized as the best ( updated versions Allstars are still appearing). Then, in 2009, Demigod came out - a big, expensive and fabulously beautiful strategy game by Chris Taylor, who seemed to be more concerned not with mechanics, but with the possibility of pushing majestic demigods on huge arenas under heaven. To Demigod, as well as to Heroes of Newerth, an even more daring, but very promising copycat of DotA, Steve and Eul have nothing to do. Recently, the words “clone” and “DotA” have been side by side in our magazine so often that in the endless DotA- imitators can be confused. But in fact, only a couple of games are worthy of attention.

But to League of Legends- an online client DotA-like MMORPG, undoubtedly worthy of your attention, Mr. Fick had a hand in it - and with him were Steve Mescon, administrator of the largest DotA community, and Steven Snow, producer of Total Annihilation and Dungeon Siege, and Tom Cadwell, Warcraft 3 designer Frozen Throne and World of Warcraft. So today we have a kind of "DotA from the creators of DotA".

According to drawings

The outbreak of interest in the famous modification is easily explained. The concept of DotA fits perfectly into modern RTS trends: no building, only character upgrades, pinpoint tactics and a minimum of fuss. The problem with DotA clones is that no one dares to reshape the original game mechanics. Even in Demigod (look for a detailed comparison of games in the sidebar) there was no staged gameplay as such. And League of Legends is even more modest in this regard - it is an accurate, verbatim retelling of DotA, in which not a single idea of its own was found.

The rules of the game are ingenious. There are two teams of 3-5 players, each team has its own base. The camp consists of a fountain that restores health, a store, headquarters and defensive towers. The bases are connected by paths (towers are also poked along them), along which minions generated by the headquarters scurry back and forth - small and weak warriors, who are supposed to pull out the whole war. Player-controlled heroes help them (in LoL they are called champions), which grow in levels and learn new spells. The task is to destroy the enemy base.

Thus, League of Legends has a lot in common with both RTS and RPG. You control only one hero, but at the same time, you seem to be participating in strategic battles. Each round here looks like this. At first, all the champions disperse along different paths and, accompanied by minion henchmen, try to burn down the defensive towers on the outskirts of the enemy base. Somewhere in the middle of the path, they, of course, meet with the champions of the enemy, and everyone methodically throws fireballs at each other. Dead heroes are reborn at their base on a special altar (you can, however, press the B key in time, wait eight seconds and teleport home, preventing the enemy from earning experience by killing your champion). Gradually, the heroes are pumped, the fireballs become larger, and finally some lucky guy still manages to gnaw his way to the opponent's headquarters. His less fortunate colleagues immediately rush to the place of the breakthrough in a cheerful crowd, noisily burn the enemy base - the end.

It was legendary!

In our rough retelling of the mechanics of League of Legends, of course, somewhat crumpled. In fact, a great many factors influence the victory, which cannot be ignored. One of the key things is what you spend your champion's money on. For battles within the round, you are credited with gold, which can be spent on items that give certain bonuses: for example, an ax that increases the impact force. Or walking boots. Or powerful armor. Or on cloaks, rings, rubies, amulets, shields, staffs - you can't count everything.

By the middle of the round, gold is usually in abundance here, but two circumstances limit you. Firstly, the inventory is not rubber, you won’t be able to drag everything with you to the battle at once. Secondly, the items here are combined into special sets, which greatly increases their characteristics. That is, three correctly selected items of an average price can be more useful than an inventory packed to the eyeballs from expensive, but incomplete armor. The game carefully highlights the items that can be assembled into a special set: given that the purchase here usually takes no more than twenty seconds, this is really important.

And, of course, the heroes are divided into classes. There are five of them in League of Legends. Tanks rely on brute force, they can scatter all enemy minions around the corners with a couple of blows. Mages have strong spells and a large mana pool. Fighters use simple melee weapons - swords, axes, spears. Assassins are proficient with bows and use point-based magic that is mostly aimed at enemy champions. Finally, there are doctors - a support class. Each class has four unique spells, which each new level one point is awarded.

noble tone

The subtlety is that all of the above is fully true for DotA. League of Legends really doesn't offer anything fundamentally new. Another thing is that the Riot Games game is a perfect, masterfully balanced clone that brings the ideas of Steve Fick almost to the level of some kind of fantasy chess. There is not a single superfluous item, not a single inappropriate spell, not a single unnecessary bush on the map (although there are only two cards so far).

When you learn how to work in a team, combine spells, when you take some favorite sets of items for yourself, you will no longer come off. At the same time, we must remember that being able to play well with two different classes in League of Legends It's almost like getting to the bottom of three or more characters in Street Fighter. That is almost impossible.

It is important to note: League of Legends- a game with a human face, unlike the original modification, it does not create the feeling of some kind of wild entertainment for a bunch of dedicated connoisseurs. There are beautiful graphics, an interface that is clear on the go, and pathos voice acting in a good way.

In this review, I will try to tell you about what League of Legends is and how to start playing it. The game was announced on October 7, 2008 and released on October 27, 2009. The game is a mixture of strategy and RPG. The concept of the game is based on famous game DotA Allstars, and one of the developers of DotA Allstars, Steve "Guinsoo" Fick, took part in the project.

The game is distributed according to the Free2Play model. You can register and download the game at leagueoflegends.com. Now let's take a closer look at the game.

Let's go through the game tutorial now. To do this, click the Play button, select Tutorials on the left and then Launch. Go through the Basic tutorial first, and then the Battle training.

Now we can start our first match. But first, let's look at what game modes are.

Basic Rules

The game has 3 maps and 2 game modes: Classic and Dominion. The game mode is tied to a specific map. In each mode, players are divided into 2 equal teams. On the Summoner's Rift and Crystal Scar maps, they play 5 on 5, and on the Twisted Treeline map 3 on 3. At the beginning of the game, players are at opposite ends of the map near their spawn point, which is located near the Nexus. The Nexus is the team's main base. The objective of the game is to destroy the opponent's Nexus.Let's take a closer look at each card.

Cards

Summoner's Rift

The oldest, but also the most popular map- This is the "Gorge of Summoners". The map is the closest analogue dota maps, which is 2 bases of teams connected by 3 roads along which "minions" go. Minions are small creatures that spawn at the nexus every 30 seconds and start walking in their own lane. Along the way, they can attack enemy minions, champions, and towers.

There are towers on each road, 3 for each team. Towers are strong defensive structures, they will automatically attack enemy champions or minions. Behind the third tower is a special building - an inhibitor. When an enemy inhibitor is destroyed, your Nexus will start sending one more super-minion to your lane with each wave of minions. The super minion is much stronger than the normal ones, which gives a significant advantage in the game. In order to destroy the Nexus and win the game, you must, in order, break all 3 towers in the lane, the inhibitor and 2 more towers located directly in front of the nexus.

Between the roads there is a forest in which there are neutral monsters. The forest is symmetrical for each team (i.e. the location of the monsters in its territory is symmetrical for both teams). Neutral monsters for their killing bring experience and gold, some and special "buffs" that strengthen your champion or the entire team as a whole for a while. Let's take a look at the neutral monster location map.

1) Giant wolf and 2 normal wolves. They have low health and low damage. They have the Critical Strike ability.

2) 2 golems. They have more health and higher damage.

3) Witch and 3 ghosts. They have low health and low damage. They take less damage from physical attacks.

4) An ancient golem with 2 young lizards. A strong opponent with a large number of lives and a strong attack. The hero who kills him receives a buff that grants 20% cooldown reduction and increased mana regeneration. The buff lasts for 2.5 minutes.

5) The oldest lizard with 2 young lizards. In terms of strength, this monster is similar to an ancient golem. The hero who kills him receives a buff that slows the enemy from physical attacks and a small amount of additional damage for 2.5 minutes.

6) Dragon. The second most powerful monster. If he is killed, each team member receives 190 gold.

7) Baron Nashor. The strongest monster in the game. Killing usually requires the efforts of the entire team. Gives 300 gold and a buff to everyone on your team. The buff grants 40 AP (ability power), 40 AD (attack damage), health regen equal to 3% of your maximum health over 5 seconds, and mana regeneration equal to 1% of your maximum mana over 5 seconds. The buff lasts for 4 minutes.

The second and last map for today for the classic mode. main feature map is that it is the only map that is played by a 3v3 team. This map offers faster gameplay as the game length is shorter and gameplay above. The basic rules of the game are similar to Summoner's Rift, but on this map there are only 2 lines with 2 towers on each, and only 1 tower protects the nexus. The proximity of the lines allows you to quickly move from one to another if necessary. A smaller number of players leads to that some champions and their roles become less useful than in a 5v5 game, such as supports.

The forest is located above and in the middle (lower forest). In the lower forest there are such monsters as Lizard, Young Raptor, Golem or Ghost and three Lesser Ghosts. Also in the center of the lower forest is Grez, Lord of the Lizardmen. It gives the same buff as the Elder Lizard on Summoner's Rift (slowing down the enemy from physical attacks and a little additional damage). In the upper forest there is a Giant wolf and 2 ordinary wolves or 2 golems, a Mad Wolf (giving a buff for 1 minute, which increases attack speed by 20% and reduces ability cooldowns by 10%), a giant wolf or Ghast (gives a buff for 1 minute that increases movement speed by 30%), 2 ghosts and a Dragon, which gives a buff to all living allied champions, increasing their damage from both attacks and abilities by 1% per level, up to 18% at level 18.

The newest map to date and the only one in the new Dominion mode. The difference between Dominion and the classic game mode is that here you need to capture and hold the towers. There are 5 towers on the map in a circle. The team that controls more towers starts to reduce the points of the opposing team. Each team starts the game with 500 points, and the team that first reduces the opponent's points to 0 wins. Both champions and minions can take the tower. To capture the tower by the champion, you need to click on it, and after a while the tower will first become neutral, and then it will be captured by your team. During the capture, the tower does not attack anyone. If a champion takes damage from other champions during a grapple, the grapple is broken and a new grapple can only be started after a short period of time. You can only capture alien and neutral towers. If you and your opponent start simultaneously capturing a neutral tower, then the capture will fail for everyone. On the sector between your tower and the enemy's tower, minions will start to walk. They are somewhat different from the minions in classic mode, but can also help you capture enemy towers. After being captured, the minions from this sector die.

There are no neutral monsters on this map, but in the center there are several points with buffs, which can be obtained simply by walking on them. The Relic of Health will instantly give you health and mana, while the Shrine of Speed will increase your movement speed by 30%. In the center of the map, each team has one Great Relic. It can only be picked up by 1 champion and auto-recovers after 3 minutes. The champion who picks it up gains a shield that protects them from 212.5+(12.5*level) damage and deals an additional 90+(10*level) magic damage when attacked, but no more than once every 4 seconds . The duration of this buff is 50 seconds.

Champions on this map start immediately at level 3 and have 1375 gold. There is also a special aura on this map that grants:

12% armor penetration

5% Magic Penetration

healing abilities reduced by 20%

increased mana regeneration

continuous experience

increased amount of gold received

reduced amount of gold for killing champions

increased amount of gold for killing minions

reduced respawn time

Also on this map, a points system has appeared, showing how successfully you play.

Now that you know about game modes and maps, it's time to learn about champions.

Champions

League of Legends Review, Beginner Help

League of Legends Review, Beginner Help

Each champion in League of Legends is unique, there are 97 of them at the time of writing this review, and new ones are released about 2 times a month. All champions can be conditionally combined into several classes depending on their role in the game. Also, each champion has its own unique set of characteristics and 5 abilities, one of which is passive, and 1 is an ultra ability. Upon gaining a level, the player can pump any ability to his champion except the passive one. The ultra ability has only 3 levels and can only be upgraded at levels 6, 11 and 16. The abilities of each specific champion can be found in your profile in the Champions tab.

Characteristics

Let's now see what the stats of champions mean.

health. Shows how much damage a champion can take before dying.

health regeneration. Shows how much health the champion will restore in 5 seconds.

Mana. Shows how much mana the champion has. Mana is required to use the champion's abilities. Some champions don't have mana, but they do have energy. Energy is restored noticeably faster than mana, but its amount cannot be increased by things. If the champion has neither mana nor energy, then he can usually use abilities on their cooldown.

Mana regeneration. Shows how much mana the champion will restore in 5 seconds.

Attack damage. Shows how much physical damage a champion deals when using an auto attack. It can also affect some abilities.

attack speed. Shows how many basic attacks a champion can land per second. Has a maximum of 2.5.

Critical strike. Shows the chance to deal a critical hit. A critical hit deals 200% damage, but can be increased with runes or the Infinity Edge item.

lifesteal. Shows how many percent of the physical damage you inflicted will return to you in the form of health.

Ability power. Shows how much stronger your abilities will become. Not all abilities depend on this parameter.

Cool down reduction. Shows by how much the cooldowns of your abilities will decrease. Has a maximum of 40%.

Spell vamp. Shows how many percent of the magic damage you dealt will be returned to you in the form of health.

armor. Shows protection against physical attacks. Damage reduction is calculated using the formula 100/(100+armor). For example, at 50 armor, an auto attack at 100 AD will deal 50 damage to you.

Magic resistance. Shows protection from magical attacks. It is calculated according to the same formula as armor.

armor penetration. Shows how much armor is reduced on enemy champions.

magic penetration. Shows how much Magic resistance is reduced on enemy champions.

movement speed. Shows the movement speed of the champion.

Team roles

League of Legends Review, Beginner Help

League of Legends Review, Beginner Help

5) Offtank. It has a decent amount of health and defense, but it does not lose in the attack either. The most characteristic champions for this role: Garen, Warwick, Wukong, Sion.

For successful game it is desirable to have all groups of champions in the team.

Now you already know how to start the game, the main maps and game modes, the main parameters of champions and their roles in the team and are quite ready for independent battles in this wonderful game.

Conclusion

And at the end of my review, I would like to hope that you liked it, and you discovered something new in this wonderful game.

Not all of them become real hits. Since the emergence of the genre itself more than a decade ago, many experienced gamers have called only two franchises true MOBA blockbusters: the progenitor of online arenas called DotA (and its remake, created in collaboration with the cult company Valve), as well as the League of Legends project, oh which will be discussed in this article.

What does it represent?

"League of Legends" was born in the fall of 2009 thanks to the efforts of developers from the American company Riot Games. The game was distributed according to the “free-to-play” model and in many ways resembled its main competitor in the face of DotA, in the image and likeness of which it was created.

But just a few months after the release, the project gained such popularity that many creators could only dream of. Currently, the game has more than seventy-five million registered users, of which almost half are online regularly.

Key Features

Such success of the project is connected not so much with the popularity of the genre itself, but with the original approach with which Riot Games approached the creation of their masterpiece. So in League overview of Legends, it is simply necessary to list the most important features of the project:

Clone clone discord. The American developers of "League of Legends" managed to make a typical multiplayer arena that looks too much like Dota. But at the same time they supplied their creation interesting plot and literally forced gamers to “switch” from the bored modification of the third Warcraft to fresh LoL.

Balance is the basis of the gameplay. There are no random heroes or artifacts in the game from Riot Games. Each card is thought out in detail and literally brought to the ideal. That is why LoL almost immediately after the release turned into a cyber-discipline, which for three years was one of the main ones in the world's largest tournament - WCG.

All for the benefit of the player. At the same time, the creators of the project have learned to make good money on microtransactions. If millions of gamers dream of their champion looking unique (but appearance does not affect the balance in any way and does not affect the balance of power on the battlefield), why not offer him hundreds of original skins and clothing items?

Verdict

League of Legends is one of the most popular multiplayer games of the last five years. And every self-respecting gamer is simply obliged to try his hand at this project. After all, LoL literally from the first seconds captivates with its visual component, atmosphere and thoughtful plot. And you think about simply ingeniously balanced gameplay after a few fights.

Official video trailer for the game:

The famous MOBA distributed under shareware model. The game is very popular, more than 67 million people enter it every month. At the same time, the game is the official eSports discipline in the World Cyber Games. At the moment, it features 127 champions, which differ from each other in basic parameters and abilities.

General information

This project is the twin brother of the game DotA, although it has a few distinguishing features. In general, the game plot remains the same: all the same two teams appearing at different ends of the map, designed to penetrate the enemy's lair and destroy the hated crystals. Three paths leading from one base to another are filled with aggressive mobs, killing which allows you to gain useful experience and improve skills.

Champions

The general concept of the game has not changed, but the abundance of fresh details can revive the interest that had faded. The game has 127 heroes - champions, each of which is endowed with unique abilities. All characters are divided into several classes: tanks, mages, shooters, assassins, support and warriors.

When choosing a hero for yourself, you must also decide which runes he can open in the process of his development. Runes allow you to impose on the character a variety of positive effects: increased defense, increased melee damage, etc. The choice of runes will be directly related to the character's class and its purpose. Destroying rivals will also allow you to unlock various passive skills designed to strengthen your character.

Additional features

In addition, the player himself will be able to play the role of a sorcerer helping his champion on the battlefield. When choosing a character, you will have to choose two devastating spells that you can use when the hero reaches the proper level. Imagine what unthinkable tactical combinations you can come up with and implement during the game. How much scope for the imagination the developers provide, offering such an abundance of characters, runes, spells. All this is decorated with high-quality and stylish graphics, and therefore the game, both in form and in content, corresponds to its predecessor.

Modes

Tutorial mode - designed for beginners who have never tried MOBA games. Over the course of two games, gamers will be consistently introduced to the basic concepts, tactics and instill basic skills.

Custom Mode - Here players can create own games. AT this mode uneven team compositions (2x5), as well as a combination of players and bots (champions controlled by AI) are possible.

Classic mode - consists of several maps (Summoner's Rift - 5x5 players fight in 3 lanes in a forest inhabited by neutral monsters and powerful upgrades; Cursed Forest - 3x3 players fight in 2 lanes, at the start, champions have more gold and fight for neutral targets placed in the forest; Howling Abyss - 5x5, only 1 line, the summoner platform does not heal, and the purchase of an item is possible only after the death of the champion; Crystal Canyon - 5 control points, which are located near the relic that gives the team great power, champions start from 3 level and swing very quickly).

Ranked type - only those players who have reached level 30 are allowed here. From here, gamers enter the League System, which is based on match results.

ARAM - on the Howling Abyss map, the player receives a random champion (2 reselections or replacement with an ally are available).
