All games announced for Nintendo Switch. The best games on Nintendo Switch

Skyrim in the country, FIFA in the bar, Zelda - everywhere.

On March 3, the Nintendo Switch, a new hybrid console from Nintendo, went on sale, which you can play both at home and on the go. We are, of course, mainly intrigued by its portable application. After all, we are talking about a full-fledged "button" control, the absence of which greatly limits games for phones and tablets. In this sense, the Nintendo Switch simply has no alternative. The release of new hardware is always an exciting event for the industry, but we are most interested, of course, in games.

DTF has selected top hardcore titles for the new console that you can play wherever you want. Some of them are already on sale.

The material was prepared with the support of Nintendo Russia.

FIFA 18

release date: autumn 2017

Multiplatform

EA is developing a new installment of its popular football series for Switch along with the PC, Xbox One and PS4 versions, and it will be called exactly the same - FIFA 18.

There is still little information about the game, but the opportunity to play a full-fledged FIFA on Switch right in some bar, with friends, is tempting. No worries, just bring the Switch in your backpack, put it on the table and turn on the football.

For sure, the same modes will be available (including FUT and story walkthrough), regional and world leagues, multiplayer matches. The best football simulator to play at home and on the go - sounds good.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

release date: 2017

Exclusive

Xenoblade Chronicles was the best Japanese RPG of its time. Xenoblade Chonicles X for Wii U also came out great, albeit a little more modest in the end. The series from Monolith Soft is inferior to Tales of or Final Fantasy in age, but already has a solid status and fan love.

In the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 trailer, we saw clear nods to the great first installment: a huge world, hints of a strong story, a Monado-like sword, and a sumptuous soundtrack. The style is more cartoony, but this is unlikely to somehow affect the quality of the game. We look forward to repeating the success of the first part.

Bomberman R

release date: Now Available

Exclusive

Bomberman turned 33 years old, and few people remember him. The game about a guy in a motorcycle helmet famously throwing explosives across the field has been sitting in the shadows for many years undeservedly.

Judging by the video and screenshots, the “good old” Bomberman in a modern version is coming to Switch. By the way, the length of one party (about 15 minutes) is great for a portable format.

Fire Emblem (working title)

release date: 2018

Exclusive

Mobile shareware Fire Emblem Heroes opened the famous series for smartphone owners. But, one way or another, many aspects of the classic Fire Emblem are omitted in it for the sake of the new format. There are no particularly spacious arenas, no tricky landscape, no opportunity to cultivate affection between fighters - up to marriage and children. Fire Emblem Heroes is a kind of prologue to the new full-fledged part on the Switch, where all this will definitely be.

The releases of the series have traditionally been released both on portable consoles from Nintendo and on stationary ones, but now the agony of choice will remain in the past. We will have one game for both home and road, with the ability to instantly switch between modes.

Shin Megami Tensei (working title)

release date: not declared

Exclusive

"Megaten" to the Western player is known mainly for the spin-off Persona. SMT is about the same thing, only without the dating sim elements, the difficulty is higher and with a much greater emphasis on the demons themselves, their abilities and usefulness in battle.

Nintendo handheld owners are familiar with the series, with Strange Journey, Soul Hackers and a full-fledged fourth installment remake of Apocalypse released in the west over the years. All as one - worthy games. Therefore, a new release for Switch is worth waiting for, despite the obvious lack of information. You don't have to worry about the graphics: the project is created on the Unreal Engine 4.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

release date: autumn 2017

Multiplatform

The role-playing series from Bethesda looked at portables only once - it was a controversial release The Elder Scrolls Travels: Shadowkey for the obscure Nokia N-Gage. A PSP port of Oblivion never materialised, but things are changing - TES is moving into a pocket format without compromise.

This is the same RPG adored by critics and players in a complete set with all available add-ons. And if on big screen Many have already tried TES V, but earlier it was possible to play on the road only with the help of streaming from a computer to a tablet. Switch, on the other hand, launches the game on its own hardware, with full optimization for it and the most convenient control layout. Great option for getting out of the city.

Splatoon 2

release date: Summer 2017

Exclusive

The multiplayer shooter with squid kids, where the entire arena can be covered in paint, quickly became a hit on the native Wii U. Critics said that the Japanese open up the genre from a new side, and players liked the distribution model with constant free add-ons in the form of costumes, weapons and arena. Even with the meager user base of Nintendo's latest console, it's easy to find company online.

Splatoon 2 is a classic sequel: the basic formula is the same, but the darkness of everything is “screwed” on top. The ambitions of the developers can be seen in the Switch promo video: the colorful squid madness there has become a full-fledged esports discipline that is played in stadiums, to the screams of crowds of spectators. Everyone wants to play esports, and Splatoon 2 is clearly the main contender for Nintendo.

I am Setsuna

release date: Now Available

Multiplatform

A role-playing game from the creators of Final Fantasy that is reminiscent of the classic parts of the famous series. Additionally, parallels can be drawn with the Bravely Default/Second dilogy, which appealed to RPG fans on the 3DS.

Cities and dungeons, colorful characters, turn-based combat system and nice graphics - everything is done in the spirit of the old school, and this is the main plus for all nostalgic fans of Japanese role-playing games. Critics of Final Fantasy XV for being too loose with the canons of the genre will find here what they lacked.

Super Mario Odyssey

release date: end of 2017

Exclusive

You can swear all you want about the dominance of Mario in the list of Nintendo releases, but so far no company knows how to make 3D platform games better. This is not an unfounded statement: at the moment, the first line in the list of the most highly rated games in the history of the industry, according to critics on the Gamerankings aggregator portal, is Super Mario Galaxy.

In Super Mario Odyssey, Mario will leave the Mushroom Kingdom to travel to real world and visit different parts of the world. It is very unusual to see a plumber among cars and high-rise buildings, but new locations will not be limited exclusively to megacities: villages, forests, and deserts were lit up in the first trailer.

Entourage is not so important: Mario fans buy new games with his participation for the sake of exemplary gameplay. There is no reason to assume that this time things will go differently.

nintendo.ru

A turn-based strategy in which rabid rabbits from Ubisoft games enter the world of Mario. The gameplay is reminiscent of: the characters run from cover to cover, shoot at enemies and use different abilities. Outside of combat, you can explore the world, collect coins and solve simple puzzles.

nintendo.com

The initial stages of the game may seem too easy for those who are familiar with the genre. But they are ideal if you want to attach to the strategies of the child.

2.DOOM

nintendo.com

Humanity has found an endless source of energy. Indeed, in hell. Of course, this ended up with thousands of demons leaking into our world. Only the Executioner of Doom can stop them - an ancient warrior who is able to tear monsters with his bare hands.

nintendo.com

DOOM is a classic shooter in a new way. No cover, no reloads or anything that gets in the way of the unbridled action. In the game you need to constantly move and shoot a lot. Demons can be killed even on the road thanks to the handheld mode of the console.

nintendo.com

Sonic Mania is a collection of all the best that was in the first games about blue hedgehog updated with new content. Original levels, the ability to choose Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and other characters, different abilities of the characters.

nintendo.com

The game was highly appreciated by both critics and users - the developers have kept the atmosphere of the old parts, but brought a lot of new things.

4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

nintendo.com

Live classic. Breath of the Wild is a natural evolution of the ideas that were put into The series Legend of Zelda since the first part. Huge, dozens of exciting quests and additional tasks - there is always something to do in the game.

nintendo.com

What surprises me most about Breath of the Wild is the thoughtfulness of its systems. You can build a fire, set fire to a stick and throw it into the field in which the enemies are hiding. The grass will start to burn and cause damage to enemies. Or you can throw a sword at a stupid bokoblin during a thunderstorm - he will raise his weapon and be struck by lightning. This interaction of mechanics creates a feeling of real freedom.

nintendo.com

The battle royale that took over the world. The gameplay here is classic for the genre: together with another 100 players, you need to search for weapons and equipment, trying to survive in a gradually narrowing playing area.

nintendo.com

Fortnite's main difference is short matches (about 20 minutes) and the ability to build. Right during the skirmish, you can build entire forts around you.

nintendo.com

The latest installment in the Super Mario series. At its core, the gameplay is simple: you need to run around locations, collect coins, move into different objects and defeat enemies. The most interesting thing is dozens of different little mechanics that you need to use to solve puzzles.

nintendo.com

For example, you can seize control of a frog and jump into a previously inaccessible place. Or move into a bullet and break the wall that impeded the passage. And since this game is developed by Nintendo, then every little thing here is calibrated to create the maximum amount of fun.

nintendo.com

Captain Toad is a spin-off of the Super Mario series starring Mario's friend Toad. He explores small locations made in the form of cubes, solves riddles and looks for treasures.

nintendo.com

The game borrowed a lot from the Mario series: some of the levels and objects obviously migrated from Super Mario 3D World. All in all, Captain Toad is a small but thoughtful and entertaining adventure.

nintendo.com

Splatoon 2 is a one-of-a-kind multiplayer shooter. It does not need to kill anyone - just fill the level with paint of the color of your team. Of course, there is a “health” parameter, but no one dies in the game. When the hit points run out, the character is simply teleported to the base.

nintendo.com

Thanks to this friendliness, Splatoon 2 can be played by both children and adults. And everyone will have fun: the kids will love to color the location, and the adults will compete. An improved version of Mario Kart 8, the best part of the Nintendo racing series, has arrived on Switch. With inventive levels of flying, swimming and trampoline jumping, gorgeous graphics and characters from the publisher's games, it's fun to race even alone.

nintendo.com

But it's better, of course, to gather friends and arrange a competition using the split screen mode.

An epic RPG in which the player will take on the role of a dragonborn - the chosen one, who must stop the apocalypse. You need to complete quests, kill dragons and other mythical monsters, participate in political intrigues and explore dungeons.

nintendo.com

Skyrim is perhaps the most famous installment in The Elder Scrolls franchise. Largely thanks to the freedom that the game offers. You can go anywhere, do whatever you want, and be whoever you want. Whatever path you choose, amazing adventures await you.

Waiting for the continuation of your favorite game series is like waiting for your birthday, only with the difference that, alas, this happens more than once a year, but much less frequently. True, there are situations when, instead of one holiday, a whole festival falls upon us - for example, if a new console comes out that needs a strong line of games. Rejoice, Nintendo fans! On the occasion of the release of Switch (already March 3), we are waiting for a lot of good projects. Therefore, we decided to recall the cult worlds that will continue their lives on the Nintendo Switch, and in addition to this, talk about those series that we dream of seeing continued on the new console - and it's a pity that nothing is known about their fate yet.

Fans have been waiting for the new full-fledged The Legend of Zelda (and this is Nintendo's main adventure series) since they saw a short video that promised an early continuation of the saga exclusively for Wii U. A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since then. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One debuted on the market, and the hype subsided. Big N chose to develop the portable 3DS, occasionally remastering old entries in the series for it. The continuation of The Legend of Zelda was awaited by the whole world, and that is why the news about Breath of the Wild caused such a revival in the English-language press and gaming communities. Everyone vied with each other to discuss the new, more adult style of the series, the chips available to the main character Link, and the secret Nintendo NX platform on which this miracle will be released. Later it turned out that the game will support two consoles - Wii U and the brand new Switch, at the start of sales of which Breath of the Wild will be released. A nice bonus is a full-fledged Russian localization. The gameplay is familiar: The Legend of Zelda's time-honored formula of adventure and combat, multiplied with elements of a grand role-playing game. Link creating items? That sounds good!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild looks as stylish as an English tuxedo. Every element, every detail - everything is at the highest level.

We are already playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and will share our impressions soon.

Of course, a Nintendo presentation wouldn't be complete without a game featuring Mario, or even two at once. Once upon a time, this character became the hallmark of the NES and survived all possible operations to transplant the genre. He raced on karts (Super Mario Kart), and was the main character of a role-playing game (Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario), even managed to appear on a third-party console (Mario for Philips CD-i). However, to this day, platformers are the native element for the Italian. Surprisingly, despite the sheer number of options, these Mario games are always fresh and up-to-date. For example, 3D Super Mario 64 or Galaxy are cult works not only for the entire series, but also for the industry as a whole. Somewhere between these two projects, the unusual Super Mario Sunshine wormed its way. In Super Mario Odyssey, the developers went even further and moved the action to the real world. Cars, the urban environment - and the familiar charismatic plumber in a red cap. Only at first glance, the picture does not converge. In fact, there is nothing unusual in the choice of such scenery. The same SEGA, back in the late nineties, made friends with its hedgehog from Sonic Adventures with a helicopter.

Super Mario Odyssey is perhaps the most anticipated new release from Nintendo. I wonder how many consoles she will be able to sell?

Opinion

Nintendo Switch is like a robot with three types of transformation: there is a “stationary”, “portable” and “it’s convenient to play me on the table together on one screen” mode. Three formats is a really unusual solution. Such a concept may well work. Playing high-quality games anywhere and any way is great. The only problem is that the portable battery is rather weak. According to Nintendo, the charge of the baby will last from 3 to 6 hours. And here it makes sense to mention one important point: the set-top box is powered through a standard USB connector, which means that finding an external power source for recharging will not be a problem.

In my opinion, the Switch's small console mode is the most advantageous. It has a clear, beautiful picture, optimal screen size even for poor eyesight and good ergonomics. The console switches from desktop to portable with just a snap of your fingers. The game screen is teleported from the TV to the console instantly. That's the magic of Nintendo!

The third mode on the Switch is geared towards playing with two (or more) players on the same screen. Two Joy-Con controllers are removed from the baby, a stick-stand is pulled out of the base, and everything is ready: everyone has a controller in their hands, and a screen is on the table. It is a very convenient solution for trips with a company or two.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Sony is often accused of an immense passion for remasters. Say, the owners of the PlayStation are too fond of re-release the same thing - that's where old games roam from platform to platform with minor improvements. Surprisingly, the “disastrous” trend, judging by the presentation of the Switch, did not bypass Nintendo. What do you think was the most popular Wii U race? Mario Kart, of course! Launched a long time ago on the Super Nintendo, the series is still wildly popular, gathering large noisy companies at the screens. So, if you were expecting a new part with the release of Switch, you will be disappointed. On the new console, Mario Kart will be released as a re-release. Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is an improved version of the time-honoured hit, including all the paid DLC released for Mario Kart 8 on Wii U. Add new characters and karts to that. Those who have already managed to see the Delux version live, note that it, in essence, is no different from its “predecessor”.

Strictly speaking, Splatoon does not pull on the cult series in any way - simply because so far only one game has been released. But what! Firstly, this is a multiplayer shooter without killing - instead of bullets, there is only paint with which we pour levels. Secondly, this is a new esports discipline. Nintendo partnered with ESL, resulting in the European Go4Splatoon cup series - one of the main reasons to buy the Wii U, and just a brilliant multiplayer. In a word, all lovers of interactive entertainment should get acquainted with this game! From the very beginning, it was clear that the company would not voluntarily turn its back on the breakthrough Splatoon. True, from the announcement trailer until the last it was not clear what exactly it was about, whether it would be a banal HD re-release of the original or a full-fledged continuation. But at the end of the video, the fans exhaled - uncover the paint rollers and wait for a full-fledged sequel!

Splatoon was the first new title from Nintendo in a long time. Much is expected from the continuation

Opinion

In the field of portable devices, Nintendo felt good, so it is not surprising that the Switch is not a stationary console. But even this feature is not the main thing, in my opinion. Switch is also universal in terms of the audience it attracts. Casual gamers will find it easy to get comfortable with Joy-Con motion controllers. One hundred million users have already tried out a similar control scheme on the Wii. Avid gamers will also get their portion of fun: they will have a new Zelda on the go, and a lot of interesting things have already been announced. Those who often have to be on the road will like the opportunity to abandon tablet trivia and take on serious games. And most importantly, in my opinion, that Switch is being promoted as a console on which you can and should play "sofa" cooperative games. While Sony and Microsoft are going online more and more, Nintendo is trying to bring good friends together. This is facilitated by portability, and one "big controller" that can become two small ones. Playing together is now not even necessary on the couch, you can also on the plane. No one else can offer anything like this.

We are waiting and hoping

Per long years Nintendo's portfolio has accumulated many legendary series and even more cult games for every taste. It was all the more surprising to watch the Switch presentation, where it seems that there were more projects from third-party publishers than their own developments. On the one hand, this is not bad: it is clear that many game studios are willing to work with the new platform. On the other hand ... after all, I so wanted to see the continuation of a whole bunch of games! Chances are we'll get many of them - over time. In the meantime, it's worth thinking about which games to ask for announcements in a letter to Santa Claus.

metroid

At the start of the 21st century, the bounty hunter series Samus was in its second heyday. Several GBA releases, a wonderful Metroid Prime trilogy that managed to prove that the legendary heroine has a place in the world modern technologies. Retro Studios' products were distinguished by their amazing love for the original source and a truly innovative approach to the gameplay. The Prime trilogy was the perfect blend of adventure and shooter, without leaning towards the latter. Later, things got weird. Team Ninja, known for the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden series, once again undertook to rethink the concept. This time in action style. I must say, not all fans liked the new look at the history of Samus. It was a little different from what fans of the franchise wanted to see. It was all the more surprising to see the complete absence of Metroid at the Switch presentation. Nintendo management did not mention their super hit, which once launched on the Famicom (NES). But the announcement of a new part of the series authored by Retro Studios would definitely blow up the hall. Alas, we can only wait.

Metroid Prime has become famous as one of the best GameCube games. Looking forward to the next part

Donkey Kong Country

In countries where platforms such as the Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 were held in high esteem, the British company Rare became famous for the adventures of huge overgrown frogs Battletoads, the fighting game Killer Instinct, the action movie GoldenEye 64 and, of course, the Donkey Kong Country platformer series. Without a twinge of conscience, we say that DKC is the pinnacle, the unattainable standard for all, without exception, two-dimensional platformers. Above it, only the stars and Mario. It is surprising that, unlike many similar series, the adventures of the gorilla have safely continued to the present day. Two sequels have appeared on the Wii and Wii U, but the Switch hasn't had any luck so far. Not a word was said at the presentation about the continuation of Donkey Kong. And they didn't even hint. Definitely, such a hit would not hurt the new hybrid console. Especially considering that platform games thrive in a portable format.

The continuation of Kong's adventures is what we need on Switch!

Opinion

Now, the last thing you want to do is draw conclusions about the technological advantages or disadvantages of the Nintendo Switch. The idea of several modes is interesting and promising. But how will it work in real life? How long will the console last in portable mode without recharging? It is stated that from 2.5 to 6 hours, but it was not possible to check this at the presentation. Judging by the description, the battery of my smartphone should be enough for a couple of days, but in reality ...

And in general, it is not the form that matters, but the content. And that for me is in the games. At the press reveal, the Nintendo Switch seemed like a great choice for an energetic, groovy family. It is appropriate for adult parties, and noisy children's parties. Showed a few games - simple, but varied. There is a merry fighting game Arms, racing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and a collection of 1-2-Switch, and an unusual puzzle Snipperclips. But big, serious games are hidden somewhere in the fog, and the presentation did not dispel it. To understand in twenty minutes (who came up with this limitation?) what The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is, is decidedly impossible. Almost half of the time is spent on cut-scenes, and how to evaluate the gameplay?

Anyway, the first impression is positive; I wouldn't want it to spoil.

Pokémon

The series from the Pokemon Company is rightfully associated among fans with portable systems from Nintendo. Once upon a time, pocket monsters literally took over the world. They were caught everywhere - on the school bus, on the subway, in the parent's car. Teenagers avidly went through this, in general, a rustic jRPG. Bribed enough simple to master, but extremely addictive game process. That's just Pokemon was not lucky on large systems. Which is logical: it is more convenient and more pleasant to catch pocket monsters with the help of a pocket console. Another thing is the Switch, a console that will bring home and portable entertainment together. Here, pocket monsters have a place to turn around. And, perhaps, to reach a fundamentally new level.

Powerful hardware compared to the 3DS will allow you to create a large-scale and well-developed Pokémon sequel that you can take with you anywhere. Unfortunately, the announcement of monsters for Switch has not yet followed - it is likely because the previous game in the series was released not so long ago. We look forward to announcements!

Pokemon Sun and Moon sold like hot cakes

Star Fox

The original Star Fox was one of those games that was actually created to showcase the power of the 16-bit Super Nintendo. The FX-chip allowed the developers to produce an incredible picture for its time. "Damn it, it's in full 3D!" It doesn't matter that in reality it all looks like a feeble attempt to outdo the PC. Another thing is important: a game of such strength appeared on the console. The events of the series take place in the fictional star system Laylet, inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. Star Fox is a team of mercenaries led by fox McCloud. And this character fell in love with many no less than Mario.

The release on Switch is a great opportunity to revive the very classic Star Fox, created by Nintendo, and not transferred to third parties, as happened with Star Fox Zero for Wii U. Platinum Games was responsible for its creation, in case anyone forgot. We wait, we hope and we believe.

Star Fox Zero wasn't a game worth picking up the Wii U for, but overall it was more of a success than it wasn't.

Known fact: the inhabitants of the Land of the Rising Sun love cooperative entertainment. Perhaps that is why the series is constantly lit in the local sales tops. monster hunter. Created by the Japanese for the Japanese, he managed to scatter far beyond the borders of his native country. It is surprising that Monster Hunter, despite its popularity, has remained the prerogative of Nintendo systems in recent years. Collective monster hunting, high difficulty, fighting cats, finally! All this on a new platform can get a second wind. After all, the system itself is geared towards co-op. What could be better than to gather a company of friends with laptops on a summer evening for joint passage your favorite game?

The name Monster Hunter is a guarantee of quality

Below I collect a selection of announced games for the console, which will certainly be included in its own "golden fund". So, the future best games for Switch.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Executive producer Bethesda Game Studios Todd Howard announced The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for new console Nintendo Switch. It will be possible to play a large-scale role-playing game both on TV and in the mobile version.

It is still unknown whether we are talking about a simple version of Skyrim (like on PS3/Xbox 360) or a Special Edition remaster (similar to Xbox One/PS4).

Release date: summer 2017

The sequel to the popular multiplayer action thriller Splatoon (released for Wii U) is coming to Switch. Nintendo bosses have high hopes for this project. The sequel promises to be bigger and better than the original. Multiplayer on the same console will also be supported.

As expected, for the release of Switch, Nintendo will prepare a party game called 1-2 Switch. Players will compete by looking into each other's eyes, not at the screen.

It is proposed to imitate shootouts in the style of the Wild West, copy dance moves and so on.

However, we are also waiting for a large-scale, large and open world.

Masatsugu Saito will be the character designer, and Yasunori Mitsuda (Xenogears, Chrono Cross, Xenosaga) will be responsible for the music. Well, let's hope that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be the next generation Xenogears we've all been waiting for for almost 20 years.

By the way, this is not the only project that Tetsuya Takahashi is working on.

Sonic mania
