The new life festival marks the death of the old year and the birth of a new one, so it is a celebration of hope and beginnings. The winter solstice also falls on this period - when the sun-faced Magnus returns, and the days become longer again.

The celebrations will begin at 10:00 UTC on Thursday, December 14, and will last until 18:00 UTC on January 2, 2018.

New life with increased experience

To participate in the festival, pick up a free Scroll of New Life Festival from the Crown Store - it will help you find Breda, Herald of New Life, in a tent south of Windhelm in Eastmarch. She will give you the first quest, New Life Festival, which will unlock a series of nine unique daily quests.

If you are faced with the problem of "how to get to Windhelm", then you can take a boat or wagon from the Alik'r Desert or Malabal Tor, drive along the road from the Rift, or move to a friend or guild member who is already there.

During the execution of each daily quests you will need to travel to a specific location to take part in local festivities unique to each of the nine races of Tamriel:

  • Bretons: Castle Charm Challenge
  • Argonians: Fish Boon Feast
  • Dunmer: Lava Foot Stomp
  • Bosmer: Mud Ball Merriment
  • Redguards: Signal Fire Sprint
  • Nords: Snow Bear Plunge
  • Orcs: Stonetooth Bash
  • Khajiit: The Trial of Five-Clawed Guile
  • Altmer: War Orphans' Stay (War Orphan's Sojourn)

When you complete any New Life Festival quest for the first time, you will receive a special collectible item - a bottomless mug of Breda honey. You can take a good sip of ale from this mug and get the effect of double experience gain for two hours! This effect stacks with all other similar ones (such as those given by scrolls or an active ESO Plus subscription).

Breda's Abyssal Honey Mug can be used almost anywhere in Tamriel - except for Cyrodiil and the battlefields, so you don't need to return to Breda every two hours for a new portion. After the festival ends, the ale from the mug will not go anywhere, but it will lose its experience-affecting features.
