Divinity original sin 2 over LAN. Conflicts, controlled chaos and total freedom

Divinity: Original Sin, released last year, surprised a lot of people. It was a complex role-playing game that came from a half-forgotten franchise and was also created by the almost unknown Belgian studio Larian Studios. The publishers didn't want to take a risk with such a project, so the developers went straight to Kickstarter, asking for $400,000 and raising twice as much as a result. Now Larian Studios wants to test its luck once again - the developers are launching a crowdfunding campaign for Divinity: Original Sin 2. And it is worth noting that the sequel in terms of ideas and ambitions is noticeably different from the first part of the game.

The developers immediately warned that Divinity: Original Sin 2 is being created on the same engine as the first game. The first moments of the new RPG look pretty familiar. The player takes control of a group of four heroes who were sent to jail for using magic. However, the guys quickly manage to escape, after which they find themselves on the island, which, as it turns out, is the birthplace of the protagonist.

Although it may be just an ordinary island. Divinity: Original Sin 2 is quite different from its predecessor in that during character creation, players will have a lot more customization options for their character. There will be a choice of four races and many backstories, each of which can greatly affect the attitude of other characters towards you, the development of the plot, and even your main goals. For example, you can create a girl who spent her whole life in a mining colony on the above island.

It immediately becomes noticeable how different the roles of characters in a group can be, whether it be an elf mage, a gnome warrior, or a human thief. For example, in a situation where a group finds itself at the entrance to a city and sees a statue of a local hero, everyone can say something different about the monument, which reflects their position in the world and attitude to life. As for the main character, he grew up in this city, so his memories are directly connected with this statue. And this creates some tension in the group, since negative statements also come in the direction of this very hero from the stone.

When the heroes find themselves in the city, they learn that the mayor has been poisoned, and the protagonist's mother is considered one of the main suspects. No one is allowed out of the city, the guards search every nook and cranny. The choice is also given to the player in this case: enter with his friends and endanger them, or still ask them to wait for their comrades outside. And here it becomes clear that Divinity: Original Sin 2 is not at all a traditional single-player role-playing game. It can be played alone, but there is also a tempting possibility of passing in a co-op. And this time the universe of the game can be explored by four people at the same time. And what these four can do is just unbelievable.

The developers claim that Divinity: Original Sin 2 can be played not only in co-op, but also in competitive multiplayer. However, this very competitive element here is completely different from what you might think right away. When main character ends up in the city, the other characters may start looking for other ways to get to the settlement. For example, a human thief can persuade a guard (who is also a human) to let him into the city. The elf states that his magic can help solve the crime and heal the mayor. But the gnome was unlucky: it turns out that the list of suspects is a local gnome, because of which the rest of the undersized began to be treated with obvious distrust and even apprehension. Therefore, the dwarf will have to find his own way to get into the city.

Now each character is on its own. The dwarf walks around the walls of the city and fights infected enemies, after which he finds a hidden passage to the slums of the city. The protagonist heads to the prison and along the way stumbles upon an angry gnome who is trying to blow up the market square in protest. The elf sneaks into the mayor's house, inadvertently kills him and the doctor of the head of the city, after which the ghosts of the dead appear in front of him. It turns out that the heroes of Divinity: Original Sin 2 can communicate with spirits.

Now the elf has the opportunity to ask the mayor who poisoned him. It turns out that the mother of the protagonist and that gnome have nothing to do with it. However, the elf no longer needs to tell the members of his group about this, since they find themselves on the other side of the political barricades. According to the creators of the game, each character in Divinity: Original Sin 2 has their own motives - however, the group as a whole also has motives. Each player can compromise at any time, but he does not have to do this. By the end of the game, it may turn out that the members of the group have become enemies. You never know which of the players you can trust, as everyone here pursues a different goal, depending on the chosen backstory.

In our case, the person becomes the enemy of the gnome. Fearing that a dwarf from the group might be a problem, the man goes to the market, buys a bottle of red paint and a vial of poison, and then uses the crafting system to combine the two to create something that looks like a healing potion, but is actually poison. After that, the mixture can be quietly placed in the gnome's inventory, which can later become a serious problem for the latter.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 will have many such situations. For example, a human thief might steal contraband goods, put it in an elf's bag, and tell the guard that the elf should be searched. The consequences for the pointy-eared will be depressing - he will end up in prison. If discord begins in the group, then its members can enter into battle with each other.

The purpose of such a most interesting innovation is to make the game more fun, but in no way discourage one of the members of the group from playing Divinity: Original Sin 2 further. An elf will be able to escape from prison, and a dwarf will be able to resurrect after being poisoned. The developers of the game claim that there will be some “penalties” for death, but the studio is still trying to balance this element of the project as much as possible.

As for Kickstarter, the studio is a little worried about launching a fundraising campaign for a sequel to their game. Developers have many reasons for this. The main one is the availability of money for development, earned on sales of the first part of the project. However, the company needs significantly more funds to create more backstories, to expand the skill and spell systems, to add at least one new race.

Nevertheless, Divinity: Original Sin 2 will be released anyway, because there is already a ready pre-alpha version - most of the work has already been done. At the moment, the studio expects to release the game by the end of 2016, but the developers at the same time laugh at themselves and say that they have never had time to do something on time. In fact, the release date of the role-playing game depends on how much money the project raises forKickstarter and how many additional campaign goals will be achieved. The fate of the game, therefore, largely depends on the fans of the game themselves.

Great hardcore RPG is out now early access not only was she able to demonstrate her positive qualities, but she was also collected quite well. Not every project in Early Access can boast of this. However, much water has flowed under the bridge since then. The main thesis has remained unchanged - Original Sin 2 is original and must be purchased by fans of the genre. But the attitude towards the game has changed - I wanted to look at it exclusively from the point of view of cooperative passage.

During the finalization of Divinity: Original Sin 2 acquired gloss and story right up to the very end. Of course, the tools for cooperative passage, both local and network, were pulled up. But we are interested in local passage. Let's look at it with the most armed eyes.

The maximum inconvenience was presented not even by the game itself, but by a tool for it - a laptop instead of a classic personal computer, not to mention a TV. Often a laptop is not at all suitable for games that force you to absorb tons of information, and in the case of Divinity: Original Sin 2, it is even more aggravated. It's hard to imagine a modern role-playing game where you have to be more careful than here. Rich mini-map, huge range of skills at the bottom, icons of party members with health/mana, a bunch of statuses that follow each other in chat mode, monks on NPCs, tooltips, interactive items, and so on and so forth. And now you need to multiply this by two. It will turn out a whole whirlwind of various information on not the very big screen. You have to be very, VERY careful.

In addition, Original Sin 2 has become more detailed and therefore less visual. In the first part, interactive objects were visible from a mile away and were well guessed. This time there are millions of different details in the frame, and the characters almost blend into the background. When playing together, your head really starts to hurt when you try to catch a cache of sand “in sight”.

Fortunately, the game can be friendly as well. Picking up two gamepads, you will notice that the font has become larger, and even the menu structure itself has changed. The classic menu of the character has turned into a familiar "towel". All icons have changed depending on the type of gamepad used. In general, if something in this case could be done, then Larian did it.

The camera can be made to always work in split genre mode, or you can politely ask to "cross" when the characters are nearby. True, in this case, of course, only one person controls the camera. And here, when someone decides to open the menu, part of the screen will be occupied, and you will have to wait until the partner completes his business. Well, or at least generally figure out what's what.

A player unprepared for a split-screen generally starts to get scared when someone opens their menu. “My head is spinning” is the most important quote. In other words, the process of getting used to will take quite a long time. But at this time, an essential part of the preparatory plot and the creation of own character. Of course, you won’t be able to relax much at this time.

But even the person who sees Original Sin 2 for the first time comes to complete delight from local dialogues. It gets to the point that you have to wait for several minutes until the hero talks to someone. There were not so many joint dialogues. The main thing is not to squander them from irritation in the process of getting used to not the easiest game mechanics. Thank God that the difficulty level allows you to endure everyone quickly enough, unlike the first part.

There is one little advice - it is better to go through the training on your own, and after arriving on the shore, already start looking for a friend. You will be able to explain to him all the subtleties on your own, and not with the help of a rather heavy tutorial in a game with dozens of pop-ups.

In any case, Original Sin 2 with split screen is more suitable for console get-togethers when your platform - PC or console - is connected to huge TV. A regular monitor is more suitable for network passing. Moreover, it is more likely to stumble upon an experienced player. And in Original Sin 2 you'll need it - it's a complex, interesting classic role-playing game that is rarely made these days. Remember this and choose wisely.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 can be played with up to three friends. Online co-op has advantages and conveniences, but going hand in hand on the same computer has a special old-school charm. Just as we played Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on a console as children, now we can both plunge into one of the most profound role-playing games of recent years.

Of course, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is not as easy as arcade beatmaps, especially in split screen mode. Therefore, here we will give a couple of tips on how to equip joint passage with the greatest comfort.

What bonuses in the game will give LG UltraWide?

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is full of secrets, and you can explore Rivellon twice as efficiently from one screen. And this is exactly the case when the aspect ratio of 21:9 reveals its key advantages.

After all, what prevents when playing behind one screen? Each player gets only half of the picture, and the workspace is unusually narrowed.

Gameplay, inventory, other interface elements - all in one pile. Of course, you can get used to it, but still Divinity is definitely not a game where the viewing angle does not matter.

That's why it's beautiful - divide it in half for health, anyway, both will get an area of \u200b\u200bquite decent sizes. It’s convenient for everyone to inspect locations, fight, and keep an eye on inventory so that nothing is stolen. And it’s more convenient to peek at a neighbor if his part of the screen is also organized conveniently and clearly.

No. 1. Who controls whom?

Original Sin 2, as befits a classic role play, requires good character control. It is not easy to achieve even alone, and in the co-op you also have to share the heroes between the players. This is where you should start.

Having connected two gamepads to the computer (this is a must, the “keyboard + gamepad” option does not work yet), load the game and select the “Squad management” menu. There you can assign characters to player profiles - and now you both have a mini-squad.

The game will not tell you how best to split up - it's up to you to decide. Someone likes to play warriors on the front line - let him command a “tank” and other heavyweights. Others prefer to stay behind the lines and support their allies with spells or arrows. Great, they'll take archers and mages. And if you want balance and equality, take one melee and a ranged character each. This way you can both have the same impact on the battles.

There is no wrong distribution of the group. The main thing is that both players are satisfied with everything. You can change the binding of characters at any time (except for combat) if you get tired of managing someone specific. But keep in mind, the more time you spend with the same heroes, the more difficult it will be to change tactical habits.

No. 2. Together or in two groups?

Divinity: Original Sin 2 treats the word "freedom" very straightforward. Rivellon's saviors can loot, loot, kill and smuggle in between routine exploits in the name of all life. The catch is that all the characters in the game exist on equal terms - including you and your companions.

That is, you can rob and kill not only NPCs, but also each other. It's pointless when playing solo. But in the cooperative there are two of you, and your units do not depend on each other - if you want, you can generally split up and lead two campaigns at the same time. Another issue is that the effectiveness of your mini-squads cannot be compared with the effectiveness of a group of four heroes acting together.

But independence also has its advantages. You can complete two different quests, or one, but in different areas - in any case, this will save a lot of time. While your partner is interrogating a key NPC, you are exploring a murder scene or battlefield. And if a friend gets into a fight, you will have time to get close to the enemy from a convenient side. To keep abreast of all the events, do not forget to keep an eye on what is happening on the opposite side of the screen (and although we have already buzzed your ears, this is the case where the 21:9 format is really very useful!).

At the same time, nothing prevents you from constantly harming each other. A friend does not want to give an item that you liked? Pull it straight out of the wearer's pockets. Tired of your partner barely moving his legs? Set fire to the ground under it or even teleport to hell. And if your differences are even deeper - let's say you disagree on story quest, - surely there is a way to influence this as well.

The main thing to remember is that the game will not solve your problems for you. But it will always provide a creative and optionally harmful way to end a conflict, on the battlefield or in dialogue.

No. 3. How to conveniently set up the camera?

In Divinity: Original Sin 2, you have to pay attention to a huge number of objects. Locations are full of details, characters and hiding places that are not so easy to notice. To make your life easier, the camera can be configured in several ways. In standard mode, if you and a partner are nearby, the image will become common, as in a single game.

When you move away from each other, the screen will again be divided into two halves. This can be disorienting. Our advice is to "lock" the camera in permanent split screen mode. This is done by pressing a single button on the gamepad. No fuss and jumps in perspective - only two clear halves of the monitor.

There are a few other things related to the review. First, feel free to zoom in and out of the camera. To notice some secrets, you need to take a good look. Secondly, immediately get into the settings and check the option "Dynamic camera" - it should be enabled. With this parameter, the virtual operator will accompany every action of the characters in battle, and not look into nowhere while the enemies are preparing dirty tricks for you.

Game modes: Single screen (2 players) | Via network / internet (4 players)

Release year: 2017

Once again, the fantasy universe of Divinity has opened its arms to gamers. The first part made a splash. Nothing superfluous, the developers invested a minimum of funds and got a real masterpiece in the RPG genre. Divinity: Original Sin 2 is designed to continue the triumph of Larian Studios and immerse gamers in yet another adventurous adventure.

Classics of the genre

RPG fans have been waiting with bated breath for the continuation of this game and finally their dreams have come true. The most pleasant moment of the game, after its launch, is its conservatism. There are no troubles on the part of developers with which they are trying to stand out from the competition. Everything is very clear and organic.

We are given five races to conquer the new world: humans, elves, dwarves, lizards and the undead. Standard set for similar games, but there is also a highlight: we have the opportunity to choose an existing character with our own backstory or create our own - completely new. Moreover, the presence of prehistory affects the development of the storyline.

The huge selection of classes is impressive. The developers have put a lot of effort into this aspect of the game, for which millions of gamers can thank them. Now everyone can find a character class to their liking. It’s hard to make a choice, there are too many great options and I want to try everything: a knight, a ranger, a thief, a shadow blade, a wanderer, a sorcerer, a wizard, a battle mage, a priest, a caster, a fighter, an inquisitor. All classes are built on the interweaving of physical and magical components. Someone is excellent at close combat, while the other prefers to attack with magic from an ambush.
