It all takes place a year after the end of the first part. Having learned a terrible secret about his parents, Bruce Wayne slowly restores his reputation and tries to help his hometown more. But while spying on Gotham's biggest arms dealer, the hero encounters a dangerous new foe: the Riddler.
The villain retained familiar features: a cane, the predominance of green in clothes and an insane love for riddles and puzzles. The creators only replaced the hat with a hood, and the character himself was made a real sadist, which was reflected in his ingenious traps. The latter are reminiscent of John Kramer's inventions from the Saw film series. It's only in the game that characters lose limbs and get burned for wrong answers.

We will also see the usual archenemy of Batman: the Joker. Bruce Wayne owes him a favor, and now everything is built around the green-haired clown again. The interesting thing is that with their decisions, the players themselves will create the future Joker.
Appear on chessboard and new figures, including the influential Amanda Waller. She is the head of the government organization "Agency", busy hunting down the Riddler. When deciding whether to agree to her help, remember: in the future, it is she who must assemble a team of notorious thugs, also known as the Suicide Squad. One of the main features of the first season is the emphasis on the history of Bruce Wayne, and not his alter ego. Here we continue to observe how his nightly adventures are reflected in the businessman. For the first time, Bruce faces the tragic consequences of his lifestyle, which is slowly but inexorably throwing Gotham into chaos. And an improved suit will help us deal with new misfortunes.

After the battle with Lady Arkham in the last season finale, the armor was noticeably worn, and technical genius Lucius Fox decided to upgrade it. Anchor is now built into the superhero's gloves. It works exactly like the Controlled Claw from Batman: Arkham Origins: choose a target, mark where you want to attach the Anchor, and send the hero flying. The battles themselves have become even more spectacular, although sometimes an overabundance of slo-mo is felt. In addition, the tactical mode has disappeared, in which the player could work out a surprise attack in advance. But now, right in the battle, you can choose exactly how to neutralize the criminal.
The creators did not forget about the investigations: together with Commissioner Gordon, Batman goes to the alleged lair of the Riddler. There he discovers a new trap of a maniac, as well as an employee of the "Agency" who fell into it. To get out, players need to figure out how the death machine works and what mistakes the victim made.
The detective mechanics has not changed much: you mark important places, study them and try to connect them. The only thing that was added was the need to arrange events in chronological order. A completely unnecessary function that was previously performed automatically.

Unfortunately. the developers again managed to step on their favorite rake. It seems that they either do not know how or do not want to use the strengths of the project. After the announcement of the arrival of the Riddler, the gaming community hoped to take part in the battle of two minds, looking forward to many difficult challenges. As a result, we got a couple of simple riddles.
The problem with the same faces of the enemies was solved with the help of masks, but the optimization still suffers. In open areas and with multiple characters, the game slows down noticeably, causing Batman to sometimes fail. Another scourge of Telltale is bad localization. The phrases are still translated verbatim, some information is lost, and the names of the locations constantly include "Wayne's Tower".
Despite these missteps, the first episode was not only the highlight of the Batman: The Telltale Series, but also one of the best in the history of the company's games. This is exactly what the previous season should have been: well-directed, rich in events and never boring for a second. The finale promises a worthy continuation, in which players will have to face a whole group of familiar villains and witness the formation of Batman's main enemy.
